Today my younger sister Rachel and I landed in Paris. The flight was delayed and I forgot how much I simply cannot sit still for that long, but otherwise it was fairly uneventful. I sat next to an adorable old couple that was going to Oslo for a wedding and they were super worried about their connecting flight. The husband was obsessively checking documents and the United website for information and the wife was vascillating between sharing his concern and saying they were on vacation and it just didn't matter. I didn't sleep, mostly because I just couldn't get comfortable. I think I had restless leg syndrome, if you can get that just for 6 hours at a time. Ugh! At one point I did fall asleep and you know what? The damn flight attendants decided it was time for breakfast and turned on all the lights and woke me up. I was so sad! We had 2 1/2 more hours to go still. No sleep for me, I guess!
And we landed an hour late and getting our passports checked took for ever so we didn't get into the airport proper until noon. Adrienne, my older sister, was supposed to meet us at a predetermined spot and we went there and looked but couldn't find her at first. I tried texting her, but nothing on my phone was working properly and I was worried I was using data and minutes and such and was going to be charged out the wazoo. Then At&t was being difficult so I had to talk with them for a while. Actually the women that helped me were nice, but not helpful. No one knew what was wrong. That wasn't very fun but something was wrong with my acct and they had to figure it out. It's all fixed now. We met up with Adrienne and then hopped on the train and headed to the great Paris.
Our lady that was supposed to meet us at our Airbnb place was mad because we were so late and she yelled at me on the phone because I should have "just taken someone's phone" to call her and tell her. I had texted her once we were on our way and said we would be there in 30 minutes and it was at 30 minutes she called me and I told her I didn't know exactly how long it was going to take but perhaps it would be 45 instead and she was pissed. That put a damper on things, especially given that the phone thing was making me crazy and we were running so late anyway. So she went off somewhere to let someone else in to their spot and didn't let us into the place right away-we ended up waiting 3 hours-so we did what we should do in Paris! We shared some wine and ate at a cafe. We then wandered around a bit and sat in the Anne Frank garden, reading about Paris, watching the children run around and planning a bit. We were, quite frankly, exhausted. We finally met up with Florence, got in, took a nap and then went to dinner at Bistro Victories which was a great walk there and even better on the way home. It was so Parisienne...the cafes, the nightlife, the beautiful buildings...wow.
Came back and made plans and are now going to bed. Will write more but it is good to hang with my sisters :)
